Design
must be compatible with most browsers and all resolutions and will be tested
by
various means including 256K and 24 mbit color and Microsoft Explorer and
Netscape.
*
Graphics images should be original whenever possible without excessive
jpg/gif loads or
random image placements. The web site must exhibit graphical and text unity.
*
Navigation methods, multiple menus, and ease will be considered as a critical
factor by
the judges. The review panels will move throughout the nominated site observing
for any
misdirection or blind corners. Quality dictates that visitors can find
what you offer.
*
Professional design layouts only. Do not center all text and graphics or
fill pages up from
edge to edge with random material. A web site must breathe. Clutter and
excessive text
or image load not only slows the site, but distracts from the overall message
and purpose.
*
Avoid backgrounds that make the text difficult to read and mismatched color
layouts that
distract the site user. Some major sites are guilty of this. If a review
panel visits a site and
encounters rainbow backgrounds or green text on a pink background they
will leave...period.
*
Construction signs, blinking text, link loops, and pop-up windows are not
acceptable by
any valid design standard. Every web site on the Internet is constantly
being refined and
developed. You don't need catchy construction signs to inform the visitor.
Such images
only serve to break up the site design and blinking text or pop-ups are
never good. If your
ISP or Internet service requires pop-up windows they eliminate your site
from review.
*
Absolutely no missing graphics images and few if any dead links will be
tolerated for any
reason. The review judges understand that links change sometimes without
the web site
webmaster's knowledge. However, proper web maintenance will catch most
on a daily or
at least weekly basis. Missing images are taboo without question. No image..no
review.
