Purpose
Purpose - The lightOS 5 Star Gold Award originated for three main purposes. First, to 
recognize the efforts of webmasters worldwide and the countless hours they devote to
their craft. Secondly, to stimulate further personal and industry development in the skills 
of web site design and total presentation and finally to improve the overall content of the
Internet through this creative stimulation.

Stipulating 10 general areas of review and the specific criteria and details that will be
considered the reviews are focused on design and presentation. Reviews are conducted
over several weeks by panels consisting of web design specialists, graphic designers, and
multimedia personnel. 

The nomination has no effect on the review process. Large corporations are treated on an
equal basis with individuals. It does not matter if a 20 person team developed the site over 
hundreds of hours or if one individual created the web page at home in several days.
